The Future Generation Investment Fund, with $200 million in its initial fund raise, allows clients to invest in Australian equities while having a significant portion donated to Australian children’s charities. Mining entrepreneur Andrew “Twiggy” Forrest and the prominent Smorgon family put up money for the project. Forrest said, “The company is philanthropically geared and is an excellent example of how innovative philanthropic initiatives can be driven by and part of corporations and business.”

A number  of leading hedge fund managers in Australia are providing their services to the Future Generation fund, free of charge. Director Geoff Wilson said the project could not have been possible without these hedge fund managers volunteering their time. “Their generosity has set an historic precedent for other initiatives of this kind.”
