A major blackout has hit Lebanon on Monday, running from its south to north, including the capital Beirut, Naharnet reports. There is no immediate explanation for the power outage.
According to the state-run National News Agency, the power failure hit every part of Lebanon at 9:20 AM.

The Electricite du Liban and the Energy Ministry cannot explain the failure.
One TV station reported the power outage was caused by a malfunction at the Zahrani power plant, on the Mediterranean Coast, in South Lebanon.
EDL Director General Kamal al-Hayek told radio station Voice of Lebanon that employees are working to fix the disruption, denying that the malfunction is linked to any alleged crisis with contract workers.
Most of Lebanon was plunged into darkness recently following a breakdown in talks between EDL contract workers and management.
Contract workers have been on strike for the past four weeks and have closed the gates of the company’s headquarters. Some contract workers set up tents at the EDL headquarters, and sealed off the gates.
Two weeks ago, contract workers prevented full-time employees from entering the company headquarters premises.
The EDL board of directors on Monday issued a statement urging contract workers to end the month-long paralysis at the company.
“The company only implemented the law by its decision to fill only the needed vacancies, ” a statement issued by EDL said.
