MEJDI Tours, founded in 2009 by Abu Sarah, Scott Cooper and Dr. Marc Gopin, doesn’t just provide the typical on-the-bus, see-the-site, back-on-the-bus cakewalk for tourists, but introduces visitors to real Israelis and Palestinians. The idea behind the tourism is to create the possibility of peace through sharing perspectives. Tourists may meet a Palestinian in Hebron or an Israeli from a Judea and Samaria community like Susya.

Tourists get to know people from all walks of life who share their perspectives on their lives and the larger situation. They are given tours by both Israeli and Palestinian guides. Liel Maghen, an Israeli tour guide who describes himself as an ardent Zionist, said, “When you are really confident, you can absorb and listen to other stories.” Palestinian guide Tamer Omari said, “narratives only collide because they choose not to stress the same things. If you want to be pro anybody, you have to be pro everybody.”
