Bernie Madoff (do I really have to go into what that mamzer did again?), who swindled $65 billion in a Ponzi scheme, and created devastating losses for a long list of funds and charities, including Yeshiva University and Elie Wiesel’s Foundation for Humanity, is serving a 150 year prison term for his outrageous financial crimes. However, his wife Ruth is apparently living it up, reports Showbiz Spy, in a $1.5 million Old Greenwich Connecticut mansion, buying fine wines by the case, spending $5, 000 on Ralph Lauren outfits and hundreds at a time at Estee Lauder.
There is no wonder why Ruth Madoff would want to drown and spend away her sorrows to ease the pangs of disgrace. Not only is her husband a byword for corruption, has been called “the Santa for Anti-Semites” (even though some of those who lost the most money where Jewish organizations), but she just lost the second of her two sons, Andrew, to lymphoma. Mark committed suicide by hanging in 2010.

Sympathy could be given to Ruth if she were innocent, but let’s not forget that in a 2009 Vanity Fair article employees said “Ruthie runs all the books” and she couldn’t quite claim ignorance about the weird figures for years and years. Perhaps to get some pity, she said she and Bernie tried to take pills in a suicide pact when the scandal first erupted. Apparently, they were placebos.
