SDGBC is hosting a healthy buildings and communities conference Sept 23 to showcase and discuss green buildings and their impact on the built environment. Online PR News – 11-September-2014 – WHAT: To showcase and discuss green building topics and the built environments impacts on human health and wellness, San Diego Green Building Council is hosting their second annual conference titled Healthy Buildings and Communities on Tuesday, September 23 from 11:30 a.m. 7:30 p.m. at San Diego Gas & Electrics Energy Innovation Center. Dr. Elizabeth Baca from the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research will deliver a keynote introducing the impacts of community and building design on health and well-being. Peter Rumsey from Point Energy Innovations will provide a second keynote address on the passive and ‘timeless’ strategies that can be used to optimize building performance. Breakout sessions will highlight topics such as: zero waste, watershed management and green infrastructure, healthy building materials, energy efficiency for existing buildings and more. Panelists will also introduce three regulatory case studies in San Diego County on the path to “Healthy Communities.”
