Atlanta Cabbies Sue Uber

Uber certainly fits the description of a “disruptive app.” Now cab drivers all over are in arms (“You talkin’ to me?”) about what this disruptive technology actually disrupts; their livelihoods. Drivers who work for Uber don’t have regulations and insurance fees to contend with, unlike regular cab drivers, and this has led to several lawsuits.

Uber reached a deal in New Orleans where its luxury service is allowed, but its regular UberX was seen as interference with the business of regular cabbies. In New Orleans, these limos and sedans from Uber must have a minimum of $15 per ride, compared with $8 in New York City.

Now Atlanta cabbies are following suit, literally,  and are trying to limit the competition from Uber. Cases like this are likely to increase; currently Uber is used in 60 U.S. cities.
