Casino Tycoon Sheldon Adelson to Give GOP $100 Million

sheldon & elephants

Undeterred by the fact that the $150 million he spent in 2012 on the GOP went down the drain with the Democrats winning the White House and the Senate, CEO of Las Vegas Sands, Sheldon Adelson, is expected to give $100 million to GOP groups in hopes of the Republican victories in mid-term elections. The IRS allows donors to remain anonymous, so while his name is not on the donations, he has given in the past and expects to donate money to the Koch brothers’ American Prosperity, Crossroads GPS and the Republican Jewish Coalition. Heads of these organizations are often seen meeting with Adelson, some vacationing at his casinos in Las Vegas.

One reason Adelson feels so strongly about a GOP victory is that he is concerned that President Obama tends to “vilify those who are against him.” Perhaps it is only coincidental that Las Vegas Sands is being investigated for allegedly bribing officials to get a casino built overseas in Macau.

Adelson feels he has to outspend rival Democratic billionaire Tom Steyer, an environmental activist, on his donations. GOP political operative Charlie Black said “Sheldon Adelson is expected to be the single largest giver … his role is important.”

Apparently for the GOP, Sheldon Adelson is the gift that keeps on giving.
