Renderings have been revealed for Jeff Gershon’s new residential development at the 5Pointz area in Queens. They make the drab gray building look more like a prison more than an apartment building.
An 11 story, 168, 000 square foot building will go up at 22-22 Jackson Avenue, across the street from the Wolkoff’s new 5Pointz development. Designed by ODA Architecture, it will feature a boxy industrial style cast concrete façade, with cubes that form balconies which cantilever out from its face.

There will, be 182 residential units, bike storage, a library, pool, gym and rooftop space.
Construction began this past spring and is expected to be completed by the fall of 2015. It will, however, be dwarfed by the new 41 and 47 condominium towers that Wolkoff intends to build next door in what was once an haven for artists.
Gershon paid $16.5 million for the site.
Development of the area has been controversial since it was first approved in 2013.
5 Pointz: The Institute of Higher Burnin’ or the 5Pointz Aerosol Art Center, Inc. was an American outdoor art exhibit space in Long Island City in Queens, New York, considered to be the world’s premiere “graffiti mecca”, where aerosol artists from around the globe painted colorful pieces on the walls of a 200, 000-square-foot factory building.
