Nate Silver Sees ‘Scary’ Results for Democrats

nate-silver

Nate Silver, founder of of ESPN’s FiveThirtyEight, sees scariness ahead for ardent Democrats. Silver told his former employee, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, that things looked “scary.”  He sees  a strong potential for Republicans to pick up seats  in Montana, South Dakota and West Virginia. Other seats that are “too close to call” include those in Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Louisiana and North Carolina.

Silver urges Democrats to “pitch in” to prevent a “Republican Senate takeover.” The DSCC admits Silver’s math is “scary.” These aren’t just strange threats from extremists, but from the mainstream of the GOP. Silver writes, “Republicans, despite some close calls, nominated candidates mainly from the mainstream of the GOP, avoiding fringe candidates who have hurt the party’s electoral prospects in the past.”
