Everyone else is doing it? So why not Simon Cowell of the X-Factor?
Cowell joined the long list of celebrities who have taken the ice-bucket challenge to raise money for Lou Gehrig’s disease. For those who have been living in a cave the last few weeks, the ice bucket challenge is just what it sounds like; having a bucket of ice water poured over your head and then posting a photo of it on social media. This of course, must involve three people: You, someone to hold the bucket and (if you want to avoid getting the phone wet) a third person to take the picture.

While many British celebrities have been outspoken in their criticism of Israel, with Roger Waters’ seething diatribes at one extreme, while “moderates” condemn Israel for a defensive war, Cowell donated 1 million pounds or $165, 000 to the Israeli Defense Forces. Cowell said that “most” of his father’s family is Jewish, and recently looked into the ancestry in his maternal line prior to the birth of his son with wife Lauren Silverman. He has flirted with the idea of converting to Judaism, and he and his wife had a traditional Jewish ceremony, complete with Israeli dancing at the reception.
