Joan Rivers officiated at the wedding of a gay couple whom she originally wedded unofficially during a book signing tour of New York City last June.
Jed Ryan and his boyfriend Joseph Aiello showed up at the Barnes & Noble store where Joan was pushing her new book, Diary of a Mad Diva, and asked her if it wouldn’t be too difficult for her to marry them.

In her book, the comedienne says that she is an ordained minister, and has officiated at the wedding of her party planner.
Jed and Joseph exchanged vows in front of about 400 Joan Rivers fans (we shudder at the thought of just how many years that number represented). But then they realized the ceremony was not completely offficla, because they did not have a marriage license.
So they went and got all the right documents and Joan Rivers agreed to marry them again.
The ceremony was held at the Plaza Athenee hotel, and Joan announced them as “husband and husband.”
She told Access Hollywood, “Weddings knock the socks out of me. I just love them. I just love to see two people that really want to be together and make a vow in good times and bad times. It’s a very emotional thing. These days we have such a very throw away society.”
