A one bedroom apartment in the building is currently listed at $3, 695 per month in rent.
There is no word yet as to what CB plans to do with the building, but it is known for tearing down old structures and replacing them with new luxury developments. The property is right next door to 200 East 39th Street where CB is currently building an 18 story residential tower that will have 91 units, will total 95, 000 square feet and which will include 6, 000 square feet of retail space. It will include both market rate and affordable housing units.
Lesotho, a member of the British Commonwealth, purchased the building in 1989 for an undisclosed amount.
In other CB Developers news, it has been announced that The Marketing Directors will handle the leasing and marketing of its project that the firm is developing in partnership with Ironstate Development and SK Development for a 21 story luxury rental apartment building located at 221 West 29th Street in Chelsea. The residences will range from studios to and two bedroom units.
Charles Blaichman told Real Estate Weekly about the selection, “We were extremely impressed with The Marketing Directors’ work on our previous projects, and knew that they would be the perfect fit for 221 West 29th.”
