Actor Adam Sandler was one of the approximately 700, 000 people who visited the Horseshoe Falls in the Journey Behind the Falls on its 125th anniversary this year. Niagara Parks chairwoman, Janice Thompson, said Sandler “Loved the journey. We talked about what an amazing attraction the site is … it is not something you build and needs to be updated every few years. This is something that relies purely on the power of nature, and it is incredible.”

The former Saturday Night Live member and star of comedy classics such as “Waterboy” and “The Wedding Singer” is said to be planning on filming a movie in Canada, but for the time being, he is taking in the wondrous site.
Even when it is not the 125th anniversary of the Behind the Falls tour, when celebrities have taken the plunge in an elevator down the gorge to get the best view of the Horseshoe falls, it has usually made news. Princess Diana visited in 1991, President Jimmy Carter and Rosalyn spent their 50th anniversary there, and Marilyn Monroe was filmed on the viewing platform in the 1953 movie “Niagara.”
