Ruth Bader Ginsburg Responds Sweetly to Admirer’s Wedding Invitation

Legal writer Stacy Zaretsky invited her heroine, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, to her wedding and received a gracious, personal response. Zaretsky, who writes for the website Above the Law, and her fiance decided to send out invitations to all the people who had inspired the couple, and Justice Ginsburg was at the top of the list for championing women’s rights during her tenure at the Supreme Court. Zaretsky included a handwritten message sealed with rhinestone hearts and received this response from Justice Ginsburg on Supreme Court stationary:

“Every best wish for life’s most important partnership. I will be in Santa Fe for your wedding day, but I appreciate your invitation and your spirit-lifting note.”

Zaretsky’s spirits were certainly lifted from receiving such a warm response, and she wrote:

“Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, you made my day — if not my life — with this letter. Thank you so very much for making me smile, and thank you again for all of the good that you do in the world.”

Zaretsky warned her other 50 outstanding RSVPs that they had better be gracious with their responses and have a good reason not to attend if Justice Ginsburg was so attentive in her letter.
