Woody Harrelson Hosts David Blaine at Black Olive Inn Charity Dinner

Woody Harrelson Hosts David Blaine

Woody Harrelson made his first visit to the Black Olive Inn, a property he bought last winter, into a great event with a grand dinner and a show with magician David Blaine. The star of  the popular 80s sitcom “Cheers” and feature films such as “Natural Born Killers” and “White Men Can’t Jump” purchased the Baltimore property along with John Dwyer of the Capital funding group for $4.5 million. When asked how he was planning to improve the property, Harrelson replied that he had just recently arrived on the site, and Dwyer commented that it is the decision of operator Dimitris Spiliadis to make decisions about specific changes at the hotel. Harrelson became attached to the location when he stayed there during the 2011 filming of the movie “Game Change.”

At the Black Olive, Harrelson hosted a benefit for Great Kids Farm, and tickets were $175 for the evening, during which guests enjoyed a four course meal and a performance by Harrelson’s friend, magician, illusionist and endurance artist, David Blaine.

David Blaine has performed privately for celebrities and political figures such as Bill Clinton, President George Bush and Jack Nicholson and Robert DeNiro. He is known for his high profile stunts, which include being encased in a block of ice in Times Square, standing on a 100 foot pillar in Bryant Park, and remaining submerged in water in Lincoln Square for seven days and nights. Blaine’s father is half Italian, half Puerto Rican, and his mother is from Russian Jewish extraction. He visited Israel during the 2006 conflict with the Lebanese terrorist group, Hezbollah.
