FLXfit is an expandable 3-D interbody cage that has also received approval in Europe. This segment of the medical device industry has seen very little innovation in the past, as surgeons have been trying to find a way to restore balance of the lumbar spine post-surgery instead of simply stabilizing it. This technology will enable patients to experience a fuller recovery.
Ofer Bokobza, chief executive of the privately-held company said in a press release:
“I am extremely proud of the EOI team and our KOLs worldwide enabling us to reach this significant milestone. The FLXfit™ is the first TLIF cage available worldwide with the 3D expansion capability. This unique and patented technology combines minimal invasive access, maximum footprint support and large bone graft chamber … ”
FLXfit allows for less invasive surgery than in the past with the ability of expansion technology that enables a greater ability to pinpoint the problem areas, allow for an optimal press fit while making sure the anatomy of the spine is restored. Dr Yuan Hansen, a reknown spine surgeon, said that “TheFLXfit has the potential to change the way spine surgeons treat their patients today.” Dr. Hansen went on to say that FLXfit provides the first of its kind of technology available in the United States.
Mr. Bokobza expects a wide adoption of the cutting edge orthopedic treatment, and says that there are many companion treatments in the pipeline dealing with the expanding devices IP platform. He added, “This will reinforce our position as a leading company delivering innovative expanding devices and strengthen our vision as a driver for continuous improvement in spine care solutions.”
