The hot entertainment calendar this summer in Abu Dhabi (which is pretty hot this time of year even without the entertainment part) includes legendary illusionist David Blaine, who has—according to a website extolling the nightlife in the richest resort in all the deserts—defied every law of nature in his career as an illusionist. David is set to bring his bizarre brand of magic for his Middle East debut show in the capital next month.

David Blaine, who is half Jewish, half Puerto Rican-Italian, was born and raised in Brooklyn. Back in 2006, Blaine entertained injured IDF soldiers in two hospitals, and improvised performances in bomb shelters in northern communities like Haifa, Nahariya and Acco which had come under daily attack during the war with Hezbollah.

He also visited the Arab village of Majd al-Krum, and relocation camps where hundreds of Jewish, Druze and Arab children had been moved for safety just south of the rockets’ range.

Blaine met new immigrants from Ethiopia, Argentina and Russia, and multi-generation Israelis. He also visited an Air Force base, home to an F-16 wing, and Navy Seals base along the Mediterranean shore.

Another hot ticket in this summer: Palestinian Arab Idol singer Mohammed Assaf. Youssef Boudlal.

Reserve early.
