Doug Liman is a famous director of action movies, especially including such blockbusters as “Bourne Identity, ” “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” and, his latest film, “Edge of Tomorrow” starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt.
He grew up in Manhattan, the son of the prominent New York lawyer Arthur Liman, who led both the Iran Contra Senate investigation in 1987 and the, earlier, New York State investigation into the Attica prison riots in 1971. This week Doug Liman was interviewed by the Forward about his movie career, how it was a real pleasure to work with Tom Cruise on this new movie and about how all the traditional family Shabbat dinners at home prepared him for the world of Hollywood when he grew up.
