Winning the tournament pushed Ms. Selbst’s lifetime tournament into the top 25 in the all-time money list, while strengthening her position as the most successful female poker player history
The $25, 000 buy-in mixed-max no limit Hold’em event was as much a test of Vanessa’s versatility as a poker player as well as her staying power, with the event beginning on the first day with players competing in traditional nine-handed no-limit Hold’em, which reverted during the second day to a knockout six players per table, with the way on the day of the tournament they were four players to each table of the tournament trimming to four. On the final round, four players were seeded based on chip count into two heads-up matches, with Vanessa coming back from behind on both occasions to emerge as the tournament winner.
The tournament organisers staged the event in that fashion to test the player’s ability to compete in several different variations of play in Texas Holdem poker, a skill which Ms Selbst has consistently shown during her poker career that she handles with ease.
Vanessa Selbst is a graduate of Yale University, with a degree in Political Science, retuning to take some time from her poker career to attend Yale Law School, where she gained her Law Degree in 2012.
