Prize winning filmmaker Tiffany Shlain producer of the ‘Let it Ripple: Mobile Films for Global Change’ series, has reportedly been the recipient of moral as well as financial support from the Bezos Family Foundation on the release of her latest short film entitled ‘The Science of Character.’
The eight minute film was produced by Ms. Shlain to mark the first annual ‘Character Day’ and will be simultaneously premiered online as well as hundreds of schools, public institutions and a number of other relevant venue locations around the world on Thursday, March 20th, 2014.
Ms. Shlain’s film is expected to be one of the key foundations of the inaugural ‘Character Day’ a 24 hour long global initiative which will feature a wide range of live events and online conversations, with the intention of spotlighting growth in scientific research emphasizing the advantages of positive character traits in human behavior. These traits include optimism, self-control, collaboration and gratitude, which are not regarded as being predetermined, but instead need to be both nurtured and developed.

‘The Science of Character.’ will also explain how character strengths can be linked to long term success.
The United States Department of Education and the US State Department are proactively lending their support to Character Day, encouraging individuals and organizations to participate in the wide-range of activities planned, with around 1000 schools across the United States having already made a commitment to participate in Character Day.
A spokesperson for the Bezos Family Foundation emphasized their satisfaction to be able to support and fund Ms. Shlain’s important project as partners, with her gift for conveying complex topics in an entertaining and engaging way once again shining through. .
Ms. Shlain is regarded as one of the most talented and active pioneers in the production of short educational films, geared towards the internet pioneer. Tiffany Shlain is the founder of the Webby Awards as well as co-founder of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.
Tiffany Shlain graduated with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from University of California at Berkeley. As part of her studies Tiffany both produced and directed Hunter & Pandora, an experimental film, which won the University’s Eisner Award, the highest award in art.
Shlain continued her studies at the Harvard Business School, where through their Executive Education she studied organizational change later studying film production at New York University as part of their Sight & Sound program.
In the mid nineties, Tiffany Shlain was responsible for establishing the annual Webby Awards, an event which has become increasingly significant, in the process earning itself the title of the “Oscars of the Web.”
In addition to her commercial activities as a film maker, Tiffany Shlain has found the time to voluntarily produce more than 500 free customized films for non-profit organizations, as well as serving on the boards and advisory boards of a number if charity organizations.
