Nearly half of the global population holds elevated levels of anti-Semitic attitudes, according to the latest Global 100 survey by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), conducted in collaboration with Ipsos and other research partners. The survey revealed that 46% of the world’s adult population—approximately 2.2 billion people—harbor deeply entrenched anti-Semitic views. This marks a more than twofold increase since ADL’s first worldwide survey a decade ago and represents the highest level of antisemitism recorded in the organization’s global tracking history.

Conducted by ADL and coordinated with Ipsos and other research partners, the ADL Global 100 Index gauges levels of anti-Semitic sentiments through an index comprised of 11 questions that measure general acceptance of various negative Jewish stereotypes. Survey respondents who say at least 6 out of the 11 statements are “probably true” or “definitely true” are considered to harbor elevated levels of anti-Semitic attitudes. Respondents were from 103 countries and territories.

The survey also revealed troubling gaps in Holocaust awareness, with 20% of respondents worldwide unaware of the Holocaust. Fewer than half (48%) acknowledge the Holocaust’s historical accuracy, a figure that drops to just 39% among individuals aged 18 to 34, underscoring a concerning generational trend. Younger respondents under 35 not only exhibit lower awareness but also show higher levels of antisemitic sentiment (50%), a striking 13 percentage points higher than those over 50.

Despite these alarming findings, the Global 100 survey points to opportunities for action. A majority of respondents globally (57%) recognize hatred toward Jews as a serious issue, offering a foundation for governments to address and reverse these trends. This sentiment is shared across all seven geographical regions, as well as among respondents of varying age groups, education levels, and political orientations, signaling broad public support for combating antisemitism worldwide.

“Antisemitism is nothing short of a global emergency, especially in a post-October 7 world. We are seeing these trends play out from the Middle East to Asia, from Europe to North and South America,” said Jonathan A. Greenblatt, ADL CEO. “Negative attitudes towards Jews are an important pillar that ADL uses to assess overall levels of antisemitism within a country, and our findings are deeply alarming. It’s clear that we need new government interventions, more education, additional safeguards on social media, and new security protocols to prevent antisemitic hate crimes. This fight requires a whole-of-society approach – including government, civil society and individuals and now is the time to act.”
