David Marcus riding his familiar mount, Chrevi’s Capital were once again selected to be part of the Canadian Eequestrian Team (CET) to take part in the forthcoming Nations’ Cup to be held in Wellington, Florida.
News that David had once again been selected for the team came as no surprise after a particularly good showing at the weekend’s WCD Spring Challenge, which was also held in Wellington Florida.
The duo placed fifth overall among the 18-horse field, in an especially tight competition which saw less than one point come between the second to sixth place finishers.
This will be the third time that Marcus and Chrevi’s Capital have represented Canada in the Nations Cup with both rider and horse also having represented Canada at the 2012 Summer Olympics as well as winning the North American World Cup League for the 2012-13 season.
According to David Marcus and Chevri Capital’s owner Deborah Kinzinger, the next goal will be to qualify for the FEI World Equestrian Games, scheduled to be held in Normandy, France during August.
Yesterday marked the third consecutive year in which Marcus has been named to the national team for the Nations’ Cup, which will open on February 18th in Wellington, Florida and finish on the 23rd.
When the announcement was made public that David Marcus would once again be representing Canada he expressed how much of an honor it was be named to the Nations’ Cup team for a third time, with this year’s team being especially strong and with a lot of potential for our team to do well.”
David Marcus began horse riding at the age of seven in his home town of Omaha, Nebraska becoming specially interested in the dressage discipline while in his teens. So interested was David in dressage that in 1996 he left Nebraska to move to Canada not only to gain a University education but also to train with Olympic-level coaches.
David went on to represent the United States in five North American Young Riders’ Championships, winning both bronze and silver, before taking up Canadian citizenship in 2011. The next year saw David form his partnership with Chrevi’s Capital, when he made his debut in the 2012 CDIO3* Wellington Dressage Nations’ Cup.
