Augmented Intelligence (AUI) Inc. is an Israeli startup that offers a “breakthrough” language model for agents that combines generative AI’s conversational skills with the rule-based AI’s predictability and actionability. The company raised $10 million, bringing its total funding to $350 million. At the same time, AUI entered into a strategic partnership with Google Cloud aimed at accelerating the deployment of AI agents for consumer and enterprise companies.
Generative AI and Rule-Based AI are two distinct approaches to artificial intelligence, each with its own strengths and limitations. Rule-Based AI operates on a set of predefined rules and logic. It follows a specific set of instructions to arrive at a decision or perform a task. Generative AI learns from large datasets and generates new content, such as text, images, or code. It uses statistical models and neural networks to identify patterns and create new outputs.
Founded in 2017, AUI’s Apollo is a breakthrough language model for agents that combines the conversational skills of generative AI with the predictability and actionability of rule-based AI. Apollo’s neuro-symbolic architecture allows companies to fine-tune agents with unprecedented levels of accuracy, safety and performance. Learn about Apollo at aui.io.

In many real-world applications, a hybrid approach combining both rule-based and generative AI can be beneficial, leveraging the strengths of each to achieve optimal results.
Under the new arrangement with Google, supported by Google Cloud’s robust global infrastructure, AUI can provide Google Cloud customers with a powerful, tailored solution to enhance their operations and customer interactions, particularly for consumer companies venturing into AI-powered sales and services.
AUI’s collaboration with Google Cloud will enable AUI to optimize Apollo’s performance using Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform and machine learning tools, providing greater agility and adaptability. Cutting edge offerings, such as scalable K8s infrastructure, high-performing GPUs and other AI/ML tools will be prioritized to AUI and Apollo customers. Using BigQuery, AUI will offer revolutionary search capabilities to customers, including the ability to run structured search in conversations, gaining insights on customer sentiments towards specific products, services, and plans. Existing Google Cloud customers can quickly get data into BigQuery by directly connecting to source systems using Apollo on Google Marketplace.
“We’re excited to bring the next generation of AI Agents technology to customers around the world,” said Ohad Elhelo, CEO of Augmented Intelligence (AUI) Inc. “With a significant footprint in both consumer and regulated industries, Google Cloud is an ideal partner to deliver Apollo to companies of all types and sizes, at scale, and with the security and compliance that businesses have come to expect from Google Cloud.”
