The Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University conducted a large multicenter trial involving 1,008 individuals with increased waist circumference found that daily avocado consumption for six months did not reduce visceral fat, despite improving overall diet quality.
The randomized controlled trial, the Habitual Diet and Avocado Trial (HAT), enrolled 1,008 participants with elevated waist circumferences (≥40 inches for men, ≥35 inches for women). Conducted between June 27, 2018, and March 4, 2020, participants were randomly assigned to consume one avocado daily or maintain their usual diet. The study aimed to assess the impact of daily avocado consumption on visceral adiposity over six months.

Furthermore, meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials show that avocados improve cardiovascular risk factors by reducing total cholesterol and LDL-C without adversely affecting body weight.”
