Americans Find Certain Sex Acts Scary

sex

Believe it or not, Americans are not up for anything when it comes to having sex. “Onlinedoctor” found that there are a number of sexual positions that many Americans actually fear.

Call it “lovemaking,” “making whoopee,” or even “making it,” there is no denying that Americans are obsessed with sex. From all of the movies that pander to youth with explicit and unnecessary sexual content to all of those television shows like “Californication” and “Sex and the City,” that put sex above storylines and serious drama, American entertainment is largely about the act. And, of course, sex sells.

But maybe not in every way.

“There’s more to sex than a good orgasm,” says Onlinedoctor. “In fact, research has shown sexual activity can be beneficial to the heart, keep people in shape, and even reduce stress. Perhaps more importantly, sex has been linked as one of the keys to building a strong and happy relationship with a partner.”

Their research found that Americans are less likely than Europeans to use sex toys, use fewer kinds of sex positions and are also less likely to engage in kinky sexual acts like bondage and sex in public places than their European counterparts.

Also, their survey of European and American men and women revealed that nearly 9% of respondents did not consider themselves to be “at all adventurous in bed,” and 19% were only “slightly adventurous.” Despite being less nervous about introducing new sexual positions or sex toys (which can be a great way to explore each other’s body) into their relationships, most people admitted to feeling most apprehensive about exploring sexual acts like bondage or public sex for the first time, they found.

There are also differences between men and women. Their survey revealed women were more anxious about anal sex, while men were typically more hesitant toward BDSM.

“Women may be concerned about the possible health risks associated with anal sex, although experts suggest proper precautions (including the use of condoms) may help reduce some of these risks,” they said.
