Adam Jacobs will be achieving a boyhood dream, when he appears as “Aladdin, ” on Broadway in February.
Jacobs will be playing the leading role in the classic Middle Eastern folk tale, which was so successfully revamped by Walt Disney Animation Studios in 1992, with Scott Weinger the voice of Aladdin, being completely overshadowed by Robin Williams, as the voice animated version of the Genie.
The stage version of Aladdin will contain original songs written for the movie version by songs by Alan Menken, and will be choreographed by Tony Award-winner Casey Nicholaw.
Jacobs will be joined in the Broadway musical by Courtney Reed as Jasmine, James Monroe Iglehart who will be playing the part of the Genie and Jonathan Freeman as Jafar, continuing on in the role that he voiced over in the original Disney’s animated version of Aladdin as well as its sequel, The Return of Jafar.
Prior to opening on Broadway, the stage version of Aladdin opened in in Toronto on November 21, 2013 running until the 5th of January 2014 and enjoying positive reviews, with the National Post review describing the production as among best ever stage versions of a movie to be seen, heaping particular praise on its score, direction and choreography as well as the character characterizations that had been adeptly altered to suit the stage.
Aladdin will make its first appearance on Broadway on February 26th, 2014 and is scheduled to open officially on March 20th.

Adam Jacobs, a gifted concert pianist, studied for eight years at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and considered taking that path as his career.
However the young Jacobs decided that he would more interested in pursuing a career in the mainstream of the entertainment industry after graduating from New York University going on to serve his “ apprenticeship” on the entertainment crew —on cruise ships, being a Broadway stand-in, the one-time playing the part of Simba in The Lion King as well as Marius in Les Miserables, before his talents were recognized and he was offered the part of Aladdin in the stage version.
