IDF Forces in Gaza (IDF)
The IDF – Israel Defense Forces – released a list of its accomplishments in Gaza after the “Iron Swords” War against the terrorist organization Hamas based there reached its 100th day. The war began after Hamas launched a barbaric terrorist attack against Israel on October 7, during which more than 1,200 innocent people were butchered including babies.
This includes women serving in combat. For the first time, a mixed battalion of female fighters and rescue fighters is operating in the Strip.
The IDF introduced some new weapons during the conflict, using them in combat for the first time. These include the “Iron Sting” bomb, the “Ido” night vision goggles, the “Hulit” (Dune) and ‘Yad’ shoulder missiles and more. The soldiers are using them for the first time these days, and during the fighting, a tremendous effort was made to integrate them into all the necessary units.

The Iron Sting is a 120 mm guided mortar munition developed by Israel’s Elbit Systems. The Ido is a set of goggles (also developed by Elbit) that comes in handy for IDF troops when operating in the darkness of Hamas’ vast underground tunnel network.
On October 31, the “Arrow 3” anti-missile system was used successfully in actual combat when a surface-to-surface missile that was launched into the territory of the State of Israel from the Red Sea region by Houthi terrorists was intercepted before reaching Israeli territory.
Also, “Heavy Hail” bombs – Joint Direct Attack Munitions JDAM – came into use for the first time in operational activity as part of the fighting in the Gaza Strip. They were used the Israel Air Force’s Adir planes (the F35) from Squadron 140 (“The Golden Eagle”) and Squadron 116 (“The Lions of the South”) used, which were hung on the wings of the planes. The State of Israel is the first country in the world to use it in an operational activity.
The Joint Direct Attack Munition is a guidance kit that converts unguided bombs, or “dumb bombs”, into all-weather precision-guided munitions.
For the first time since its establishment, the IDF Kfir Infantry Brigade, the 5th Reserve Brigade, and the Multidimensional Unit are taking part in ground fighting in Gaza. The forces are fighting against Hamas terrorists, locating the terrorist organization’s underground tunnels, and destroying them.
The Israel Navy’s “Saar 6” class missile ships (all four of them) for the first time operated together in the Red Sea to defend the area in response to missile attacks launched from Yemen as well as threats made to Israeli shipping. They also took part in attacks in the Gaza Strip, supporting the IDF ground forces there.
The IDF forces in Gaza are even benefitting from the much needed upgrade to their combat rations. In the past, these were things like canned vegetables and processed meat. The new rations include a variety of store bought items from coffee to snacks. It also has “Knights’ Bread”: A package intended for 4 fighters, in which you will find, among other things: a hot dish, personal soup, tortillas, salty and sweet snacks, tahini, personal sauces, breakfast cereals, personal pastry, coffee, tea and personal sugar.
