Net-A-Porter, the British luxury fashion store, reinstated Israeli designer Dodo Bar Or after dropping her after the start of the Iron Swords War in Gaza. Another fashion seller, Mytheresa, also dropped and then reinstated Dodo Bar Or.
The decision to drop Dodo Bar Or was apparently made because she dared speak the truth about the terrorist organization Hamas and compared it to Isis. While no one came out and said this, Yoox Net-a-Porter told England’s The Daily Mail, “Discrimination, hate, and violence have no place on our platforms. We apply this policy consistently to all brands we stock in all markets. After content appeared that was offensive and inflammatory, the brand in question has been suspended from our sites.”
Mytheresea, however, did explain its decision to ban, and the reinstate, Dodo Bar Or.

In a statement the company said, “Over the weekend we became aware of a video posted by a designer that we felt crossed the line into inflammatory content. We moved quickly to remove the related brand from Mytheresa.com. The original post has been removed and context was given in the meantime by the designer. We have taken the decision to bring the brand back online.”
The Dodo Bar Or pages were only restored to the respective websites after Jewish people and others around the world condemned Net-A-Porter and Mytheresa for the senseless move and a campaign of complaints and threats of boycotts forced them to do so.
One wonders if any fashion brands/designers are so treated for making comments in defense of Hamas’ barbarism.
According to her website, Dorit ‘Dodo’ Bar Or first found fame as an actress in her native Israel. Feted for her personal style as much as her performances, she eventually decided to take on a different kind of leading role, making the leap to becoming a designer and founding her namesake label in 2014.
Drawing on her Middle Eastern heritage for inspiration, Dodo Bar Or fuses references to traditional design, art and architecture with a cool, fashion-forward outlook, for example with the colorful keffiyeh-inspired kaftans with which she made her name. The collections are renowned for their feminine silhouettes, unexpected color combinations and beautiful jacquard embroideries, all of which are invested with a carefree bohemian spirit. The brand’s relaxed luxury is designed to translate effortlessly from day to night.
Dodo Bar Or has been worn by women including Naomie Harris, Bar Rafaeli, Toni Garn, Selena Gomez and Leigh Lezark. It is available from Saks Fifth Avenue, Harrods, Selfridges, Browns, Le Bon Marche, Tsum, Net-A-Porter and MatchesFashion, to name just a few.
