Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy has declared war on the Washington Post over what he described as a “hit piece” against him.

This came after Post reporter Emily Heil wrote to people after Portnoy’s One Bite Pizza Festival asking, “We are planning to write about the festival and how some of the sponsors and participants have drawn criticism by seeming to associate themselves with Dave Portnoy, who has a history of misogynistic comments and other problematic behavior.”

The Washington Post published a story about Dave Portnoy and the festival headlined, “Pizzerias navigate buzz, backlash around Dave Portnoy’s pizza festival.”

The story talked about how pizzerias take part in the festival because it brings them a lot of business. But, the publication added a few words about how maybe some should have canceled because of allegations about how Dave Portnoy has treated women in the past; even though, none have been proven.

“Since the One Bite Pizza Festival was announced in early August, some influencers, writers and activists have been calling out the pizzerias and sponsors participating in the nearly sold-out event,” wrote the Washington Post adding, “None of the pizzerias or sponsors contacted by The Post indicated that they were pulling their support. Some said they lent their name and reputation to the event in exchange for publicity or access to the young, social media-savvy audience that Portnoy attracts.”

“It’s surreal we live in a country where activist reporters can openly get caught lying and admitting they are creating a false narrative to generate engagement and controversy AND still publish the article,” Portnoy reacted.

The Washington Post said that Dave Portnoy agreed to be interviewed for the story, but then refused to reschedule the time for one when it became necessary.

And David Portnoy also commented on the recently revealed relationship between singer Taylor Swift and football player Travis Kelce, saying that he doesn’t think that the relationship is real. Commenting on footage of the two attending a Kansas City Chiefs game over the weekend Portnoy tweeted, “I can’t stop watching this. Just such a bizarre couple to me. Seems like zero chemistry but what do I know.”

He was also unhappy with how Taylor Swift celebrated when the Chiefs went up 41 – 0 against the Chicago Bears with a touchdown in the third quarter during Sunday’s game. “Listen I love Taylor but I also love my Chicago guys and celebrating like this to go up 41-0 may be the most disrespectful thing I’ve ever seen in my life. Time and place,” tweeted Dave Portnoy. The Chiefs won the game 41 – 10.
