Daniel Radcliffe, looking for life after Harry Potter, has been finding it in a variety of roles,  both in films as well as in the theater.  Now he was making his debut on the Broadway stage with ‘The Cripple of Inishmaan’ which has enjoyed considerable commercial and box office success in London.

Written by well-known Irish playwright by Martin McDonagh ‘The Cripple of Inishmaan’ tells  the story of a  provincial coastal community in  Ireland of the 1930s, whose simple lives are dramatically changed when a film crew from Hollywood arise in the in order to produce a documentary about  film about life on the remote island community. The film is loosely based on the, shooting of an actual documentary, that was called the ” Man of Aran”, particularly  based around one of the village’s residents,  “Cripple” Billy Clavin.  Billy  is desperate for a part in the film, despite being severely disabled as well as something of an outcast. To the surprise of the inhabitants of Inishmaan, Billy gets his chance to escape his life of boredom and mediocrity through appearing in the documentary. .

‘The Cripple of Inishmaan’  is scheduled to run for at least three months on Broadway, with the entire London cast continuing in the same roles.

Since playing the boy wizard in  the eight part Harry Potter movie series , Daniel Radcliffe has shown tremendous versatility not only on the London stage, but also appearing in ‘The Woman in Black’, a horror movie released in 2012 and as well as taking the part of hippie poet Allen Ginsberg in  ‘Kill Your Darlings’.
