Israeli technology based on artificial intelligence developed by the startup Rankset makes it possible to examine and improve the suitability of players for soccer teams. The database built by the company includes 220,000 soccer players around the world, categorized by different segments and sections.

In 2021, there were 18,068 player transfers between the 211 soccer associations in the world registered under FIFA. This marked an increase of 5.1% from the year before. But the team changes come with many economic and personal consequences. And it is largely governed by the gut feelings of the decision makers in the teams and the players themselves. Past statistics indicate that about half of player transfers do not justify themselves and are recorded as a failure for financial or career development reasons.

And so, this is where Rankset comes into the picture. The company offers a way for both teams and players to use data in determining their choices for switching teams.

The algorithm, says Rankset, generates an analysis for each player based on a unique ranking system that contains mathematical formulas, events and situations in which the player and his team took part and a number of other exclusive parameters, so that he maximizes his personal achievements and his contribution to the team in which he plays.

Rankset targets markets are football clubs and player’s agencies and says that its product produces a high quality player’s bank for each team per position according to the team’s goals, estimated budget framework, and matching potential. It is for agencies we provide a full breakdown of the player character and mental function in order to find the best team for them in the market.

The Rankset system is already used by sports clubs and the most professional player agents in Israel, England, Belgium, Serbia, and Romania as well as in Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Guinea and Senegal

According to Ariel Samuel, the scope of the global artificial intelligence market in the field of sports was estimated at 1.4 billion dollars in 2020, and will jump up to 19.2 billion dollars in 2030.
