New-York based startup Micky has launched a new, fully automated lumber marketplace online.

Mickey.io marketplace provides timber buyers with a new way to acquire goods — without going via a broker or middleman. Now, manufacturers, builders, and others in the United States have direct access to the lumber they want – and orders may be placed for delivery in as little as one to thirty days, depending on customer demand and supplier availability. Delivery periods are expected to be between 1 and 5 days, depending on the customer and supplier’s location, and Mickey can currently only ship inside the continental United States.

Micky was founded in 2019 by CEO Alex Rabens and President Jesse Solomon to improve the outmoded day-to-day operations of North American natural resource providers – such as timber merchants. Mickey’s flagship product, dubbed ‘Mickey OS,’ is an operating system that automates and optimizes the most time-consuming aspects of the business, including logistics, payment processing, and real-time fulfillment.
The Mickey Marketplace features a diverse selection of hardwood lumber sourced directly from NHLA-certified producers who harvest logs from sustainable and renewable forest resources throughout the United States – allowing more small and medium-sized suppliers, as well as large forest products firms, to sell their inventory directly to purchasers online. The Mickey Marketplace has real-time inventory updates, a hassle-free automated fulfillment procedure, and an all-in-one purchasing solution. The Mickey Marketplace will manage the whole transaction without human intervention, from order placing and payment processing to shipment and delivery.
The new marketplace offering enables lumber buyers to participate in the platform for the first time while existing Mickey suppliers get access to new buyers in addition to their core clients. Mickey will continue to automate marketing, payment, shipping, and order fulfillment.
Buyers will initially be able to purchase full truck loads of kiln-dried hardwood, rough or S2S, in Western Red Alder, White or Black Ash, Basswood, Beech, Yellow or White Birch, Cherry, Hard or Soft or Pacific Coast Maple, Red or White Oak, Walnut, Hickory, Sap Gum, Tupelo, Sycamore, and Cottonwood. The inventory will consist of a range of thicknesses ranging from 3/4 to 16/4, as well as a variety of widths and lengths.

Committed to a net-zero carbon future, Mickey’s marketplace will calculate the carbon intensity of each lumber purchase for its users in order to provide sustainability reporting for both parties – and eventually enable forest product sellers to monetize land that is not commercially viable through carbon credits.
