  1. Make The Bed

We know this seems basic, but making your bed each morning has a really positive effect on your day! Nothing is better than coming home to a tidy bedroom and climbing into a fresh, made-up bed every evening. Bliss!

    2. Drink Your Water

Staying Hydrated is a massive part of how well we feel, and our body functions daily. 1.5 liters is the minimum amount that you should be drinking every day. Have a bottle of water at your desk or wherever you work to remind you to take a sip whenever you see it.

     3. Sit Up Straight

A good posture now can help avoid back issues later! We know it’s tough, but remember to line up your spine correctly when sitting down to work. Don’t lean too far over your desk, and don’t slouch back in your chair.

4. Ignore The Opinions Of Others

This is a big one. Live your life the way YOU want to live it. Of course, we aren’t talking about running over other people to get what you want here; just putting your preferences, wants, and needs above the opinions of others when it comes to your own life. No one has to live your life but you!

5. Stress Less

We know this one is easier said than done, but it’s essential to contentment. Remind yourself that worrying or stressing over the outcome of anything will not affect it in any way; it will only make your life more unpleasant. Plan well and do your best in any situation: you can’t ask more of yourself than that.

7. Find Joy In Everyday Things

Don’t wait to find joy in your life. Appreciate that sea breeze coming through the window, stop at some intricate street art, watch the afternoon sun make lovely patterns on the walls, and laugh at your dog making a silly face. All we have is now, and joy is everywhere if you look for it.

8. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Sustainability is everyone’s responsibility, including yours! Carry a reusable cup and straw in your lunch bag, bring tote bags when you shop, avoid single-use plastics whenever you can, avoid food waste, and learn to fix your clothes.

9. Get Enough Sleep

Get to bed at a reasonable hour and stay off any electronics for an hour before bed; this is especially important during your workweek. Looking at a screen before sleeping stimulates our brains too much; no screen time before bed means better sleep and waking up feeling more rested.

10. Be Grateful

Gratitude helps us keep the good and bad things in our lives right-sized in our minds. Take a little time each day to reflect on what you have now that you are grateful for. This could be absolutely anything: your morning coffee, a roof over your head, a good memory of a loved one, making it through a tough day at work, or even just being alive.

11. Move Your Body

This doesn’t have to be intense exercise if you don’t want it to be, but moving your body every day is essential for mental and physical health. Roll out of bed and do a few minutes of yoga, take a walk around the block when you get home from work, do your favorite workout. Your body does a lot for you; put in a little work for it in return.

12. Plan

Plan out your daily tasks and list any important work or social events in a calendar when you plan them. Planning helps you manage your time well and show up for your commitments. It takes the stress out of work and social lives and allows you to be prepared in advance.

13. Look After Your Skin

Men, this includes you! Look after your skin. Moisturize your body every day. Wash, moisturize, and apply SPF to your face every single day as well, whether you are leaving the house or not. Don’t pick or squeeze your face and wear a hat when you’re in the sun. Trust me; future-you will say thank you!

14. Leave Things Better Than You Found Them

This could apply to any situation in your life, like someone leaving sugar on the snack room table at work, a friend in a bad mood, or your messy room. Take a few seconds and wipe that counter, have a kind word for that friend instead of snapping back at them, and tidy up your mess. You’ll feel way better afterwards.

15. Be Punctual

Nothing says “I don’t respect your time” more than arriving anywhere late. Of course, there are times when being late may be unavoidable and out of your control. When this happens, take a few seconds to text or call and let your friend or appointment know what’s going on.

16. Wash Your Hands

You’d be surprised how many people don’t! Just wash ‘em.

17. Journal

Not only does writing help you sort out confusing thoughts and feelings, but the act itself can be cathartic. Just write a few lines every day about whatever you like.

18. Take Time For You

Do whatever you want in your ME time. Take yourself on a date, re-pot your plants, read a book, and nap. Whatever you want to do, honor that.

19. Be Polite

It takes no effort to say “please” and “thank you” or to smile at someone and tell them to have a nice day.

20. Work Hard

Putting in the minimum possible effort never got anyone anywhere good. Do your best at whatever you’re doing; even if you fail, you’ll know you tried.
