Overwolf, through CurseForge Core, assists both in-game creators and game studios in facilitating community-created experiences. CurseForge Core is a white-label solution designed to speed the movement of community-created content by allowing publishers to simply and safely integrate mods into their existing and future games at no cost.
In addition to the technical solution, Overwolf provides game developers with a full-service user-generated content (UGC) experience by managing content moderation, including toxicity management, the community of players and creators, IP, UGC-related live ops, compatibility testing, file hosting, and creator payment processing. Gamers gain access to an in-game marketplace where they can find, download, and install approved player-created content without ever leaving the game.
The Overwolf platform is presently used by over 87,000 creators to build, distribute, and sell their in-game apps and mods. Overwolf’s products are used by over 20 million gamers on a monthly basis, with over 15 billion apps and mods downloaded each year. Overwolf aims to pay out $29 million to in-game creators in 2021, a threefold increase year on year.
Uri Marchand, co-founder, and CEO of Overwolf stated, “Community-created experiences are the gaming of the future. No single game company can match with a committed community’s speed of execution and overwhelming ingenuity. Instead of opposing community-created content, we’ve witnessed a shift in mindset, with top gaming developers recognizing the value that these producers bring to the community and to the studio itself. It is a privilege to give the foundation, tools, and knowledge to usher in this new era of community development.”
