easyJet plc (LSE: EZJ), Low-cost air carrier, has announced that it will operate three weekly flights between Ben Gurion Airport and Berlin’s Schoenefeld airport starting February 4, 2014. Fares start at €43.99 Tel Aviv – Berlin one way and €42.49 Berlin – Tel Aviv one way, all taxes included. Flights will be scheduled every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
easyJet entered the Israeli market in November 2009. Berlin will be the sixth route in easyJet Israel’s portfolio after London Luton (up to 11 frequencies per week), Manchester (twice a week), Geneva (5 times a week), Basel (4 times a week) and Rome (twice a week).
easyJet UK Commercial Manager Hugh Aitken said, “easyJet, as a long term committed partner to the Israeli tourism industry and the Israeli market, continues to offer our Israeli customers with more attractive destinations in Europe in affordable prices and best service.”
He added, “We said that we’d like to expand our operation in Israel when Open Sky agreement comes into force and with the Berlin-Tel Aviv route, we reaffirm our commitment to the market. Berlin is the sixth destination we operate from Tel Aviv, and this brings us to be the second largest foreign airline operating flights to and from Tel Aviv, which is something we’re very proud of.”
