Mark Zuckerberg certainly has his enemies. The Facebook founder is despised by countless would be competitors as well as people who have known Mark Zuckerberg personally. You just need to see the movie “The social Network” to understand why. But now Zuckerberg, Zuck to his friends, seems to have a crossed a very clear line into total narcissism.
So what did he do? For some reason Mark Zuckerberg thought that the whole world really, really wanted to see him surfing on July 4th. But Zuckerberg did not just surf. He rode the waves on some sort of fancy, and certainly really expensive, electric surf board while holding a big American flag. And Zuckerberg shared a video of himself doing so on Instagram. The video included John Denver’s song “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”

Jewish Business News recently reported on how Instagram wants to be more about videos than just snapshots and selfies, but this is ridiculous!
Talk about a clueless celebrity! This is the sort of thing we expect from self-absorbed Hollywood types who inundated us with pics and videos of how they self-isolated in their big mansions and beach front properties, drinking expensive whiskey and smoking cigars by their huge swimming pools, during the Covid shutdowns. The world felt their pain. This is the sort of thing that one would expect an airhead, famous for nothing but her butt and breast implants, like Kim Kardashian, would post on Facebook or its Instagram service. But Mark Zuckerberg himself?
Well the verdict is in Zuck, and you clearly have made a fool of yourself. Aaron Levie, founder and CEO of enterprise cloud company Box, posted, “Zuck really doing his part to make tech founders seem normal.” And yes this was meant sarcastically.
The Daily Beast went with the headline, “Mark Zuckerberg Lets His Geek Flag Fly for the Fourth in New Surf Video.” The headline in the New York Post read, “Internet erupts over Mark Zuckerberg’s flag-toting July 4 video.”
One person commented, “I wish they could bring John Denver back to life just so he could sue Mark Zuckerberg for this.” Another sarcastically wrote, “Someone told Mark Zuckerberg to act totally normal for July 4th.”
So what could the 37 year old Facebook founder have possibly been thinking? Maybe all of the government investigations, civil suits, complaints over privacy violations, complaints over censorship, complaints about not doing enough to combat fake news and racism on the social network, and much much more finally got to Mark Zuckerberg. Or maybe this was just Zuckerberg’s way of telling the world, “I’m worth almost $130 billion and so I don’t have to give a s**t what anyone thinks.”
What do you think?
