Ice Cream titan Ben & Jerry’s has gotten into the dog food business or at least the doggy dessert business. The company released two new flavors for canines. The new Doggie Desserts by Ben & Jerry’s are described by the company as “tasty frozen treats that are paws-itively perfect for your pet.”
Dog owners really love their dogs. People who don’t have a pet do not always understand the bond which people can have with dogs and cats. While many are bemoaning the new treat as an example of waste and veterinarians might see this as unhealthy for dogs, the new doggy dessert is likely to do quite well for Ben & Jerry’s. People can probably expect a cat desert to soon follow.
The new ice cream is actually dairy-free. So this should please vegan dog owners. It has been formulated for dogs with a sunflower butter base. “Pontch’s Mix” offers peanut butter & pretzel swirls and “Rosie’s Batch” pumpkin and mini cookies. All of the ingredients used in Doggie Desserts can be found in current Ben & Jerry’s ice cream recipes.

“Just what a good dog needs after a raucous puppy playdate or a long walk with their human,” declares Ben & Jerry’s.
“We know our fans love their dogs and treat them like family,” said Lindsay Bumps, a Ben & Jerry’s Global Marketing Specialist who also happens to be a certified veterinary technician. “We created this product line so pups can enjoy something even better than belly rubs. Doggie Desserts are the sweetest treat they’ll ever put their paws on.”
“Pontch’s Mix” and “Rosie’s Batch” were named after two real dogs in the Ben & Jerry’s office—an affectionate Frenchie and a rescue mutt of mixed heritage. As a dog-friendly workplace, the Ben & Jerry’s headquarters in Vermont often has up to 40 pups curled up under desks, keeping employees company.

If a president’s repeated lies, illegal political pressure, and the stoking of a mob to subvert the democratic process are not an abuse of power warranting impeachment, it is difficult to know what would be. https://t.co/abfnIm25JW

Meanwhile, Ben & Jerry’s has frown the growing list of companies to condemn last week’s attack on the U.S. Capitol in Washington. The ice cream maker released a statement decrying what happened.
Citing a form of reverse racism as an explanation for what happened the company stated, “The mostly white insurrectionists roamed freely and without consequence through the heart of our democracy. The only explanation is that this was allowed to happen because they were white—not Black, Brown, or Indigenous people.”
“The white mob that made its way to the dais of the US House of Representatives and the Senate, literally sitting in the chair the vice president had been in minutes before, is the ultimate embodiment of white privilege.”
