Aviad Kaufman, founder and CEO of RealView Imaging , can rightly be proud of his company’s achievements in the development of the first 3D holographic display and interface system specifically designed to take the important process of medical imaging application into a whole new dimension, or more exactly, three of them.
Thanks to the abilities of RealView Imaging’s digital holography and real-time 3D interaction technology, high resolution 3D can be projected to “float in the air”. In addition, each holographic image protected using RealView’s technology can be interacted with directly and with tremendous precision to allow surgeons to demonstrate to their patients or teachers to their students exactly how the human heart functions and hopefully, in the future, many of the human body’s principal organs.
Since the establishment of RealView in 2008, Aviad Kaufman and the company’s research team has been involved in the development of their Holographic technology, which has now allowed them to release their revolutionary innovation that is liable to change the face of 3D medical imaging.

RealView’s proprietary system is capable of projecting extremely high resolution, color, dynamic 3D images that ostensibly “float in the air” without those viewing it needing to wear any form of protective eyewear. During a viewing, the medical hologram will hover in free space providing the audience viewer an unobstructed view of the heart with all the visual depth cues, a technology, according to Aviad Kaufman, unlike anything available to the medical profession today.
According to Aviad Kaufman RealView Imaging has succeeded in developing a system capable of receiving volumetric stream such as 3D Ultrasound or indeed any other static or stream of volumes and convert it to interference patterns and project true holograms using these interference patterns in real-time.
The possibilities that the RealView’s development will mean to the medical profession was recently demonstrated in a clinical trial carried out at Israel’s Schneider Children’s Medical Center with RealView working in close cooperation with the Dutch medical equipment giant Phillips’ Healthcare division.
In the demonstration Dr. Elchanan Bruckheimer demonstrated the tremendous advantages that access to 3D angiography will bring to the medical profession, in the most practical form, by playing its part in a delicate clinical procedure that helped to repair the damaged heart of a teenage girl.
After the procedure was successfully completed Dr. Bruckheimer explained that as an Interventional cardiologist he is dependent on medical imaging, to guide him through his clinical procedures. “By being the first to carry out human trials using RealView’s holographic system conducted in my clinic allowed me to actually work with live holograms and to explore the unique benefits of a genuine 3D setting. For the first time in my career I had the patient’s virtual heart literally beating in the palm of my hand.” Dr. Bruckheimer summed up.

Aviad Kaufman was graduated with a B.Sc. (Cum laude) in Industrial Engineering & Management from the Technion Institute of Technology in Haifa coming on to gain his MBA (cum laude) from Tel Aviv University.
Before co-founding RealView Imaging, Aviad had garnered more than ten years of business management experience, working with some of Israel’s most cutting edged technology-oriented companies, among them Lipman Electronics, a leading provider and manufacturer of electronic payment systems, and now part of the VeriFone group, later moving on to work with Rafael Defense Industries, the country’s eminent defense design and development center.
