Israeli food tech startup Silo Kitchen Inc. launched its revolutionary food container system on Kickstarter on October 16 (World Food Day) reaching its target of $80,000 in less than 24 hours and today (October 22), the company has surpassed $350,ooo and entered Kickstarter’s Favorite Projects category.
Silo’s innovative vacuum-sealing system designed to keep fresh food up to 5 times longer and reduce food waste. The containers are made from durable, BPA-free Tritan TM plastic which is microwave- and dishwasher-safe.

Silo containers are not only the sleekest food storage they are also the smartest. Silo offers on its campaign a vacuum machine base, which you leave on your kitchen counter, and variant size containers. All you need to do is to place the container on the base, press it down and in less than a minute, you got yourself a perfectly vacuum-sealed container.

These genius containers include Amazon’s voice assistant, Alexa, which is connected to the Silo app. Alexa identifies the product placed inside and tells users when its time to throw food away, and even updates a user’s shopping list when items near expiry.
One-third of the food gets thrown out or wasted, which amount to about 1.3 billion tonnes. Silo’s founder CEO, Tal Lapidot who says in the promotional video he came up with the idea after he grew tired of continuously throwing out spoiled food.
