Israeli billionaire Idan Ofer is reportedly in talks to bring Argentinian soccer star Lionel Messi to visit Israel along with his Barcelona FC team for a friendly match against Atletico Madrid.
According to Israeli sources, the top Spanish league team will play at the Stadium in Haifa which is named after his late father, Sammy Ofer.

Israel Corporation controlling shareholder Ofer also owns a stake in Spanish soccer team Club Atlético de Madrid. He acquired a 32% stake of Atlético for 50 million euros ($59 million). Six months later, Forbes valued the club at $848 million.
Early this month Ofer has also bought a 51% stake in Portuguese second-tier soccer club ‘Futebol Clube de Famalicão’. He plans to train young players and sell them to big European clubs.
