About 30 employees of the Israeli embassy in Amman, Jordan, continue to barricade themselves on Monday after the nighttime drama, during which the security guard shot two local residents after one of them stabbed him in Bamberg. Investigation of the incident shows that the terrorist stabbed the security guard twice – in the back and chest. “We have no doubt that the Jordanian youth was a terrorist who wanted to murder an Israeli,” a senior political source told Ynet. “They too know that this is a terrorist, but they are exploiting the Temple Mount crisis.”
Although he suffered an injury, the security guard managed to pull himself together, pulled out his pistol and fired several shots at the terrorist. He was treated at the embassy by a man with the training of a paramedic and did not need to be evacuated to a hospital.

Due to the Jordanian demand, the diplomatic staff and the security guards remained in the compound, after they could not be evacuated. It is estimated that the Jordanians insist on questioning the security guard, among other things, because of the sensitivity surrounding the Temple Mount crisis.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke tonight with the ambassador in Amman, Einat Shlain, and with the embassy security officer who was stabbed and shot. Foreign Ministry officials and Israeli security officials are working through various channels with the government in Jordan, and the cabinet discussed the exceptional incident and the Temple Mount crisis tonight and will convene again at 14:00 to discuss the crises in Jordan and the Temple Mount and the settlements.
“Jordan has no interest in raising the flames”
“This is a serious incident, but we have to put it in proportion because the two countries prefer to prevent this affair from disturbing the relationship in such a delicate period,” said Oded Eran, the former Israeli ambassador to Jordan, in an interview with Ynet. “Jordan has other problems – a million and a half refugees, a Da’ash within the kingdom, and it’s too sensitive and explosive.
According to Eran, the affair can be solved in several ways: “It is possible, for example, to give an investigation report that the Israeli authorities made to the security guard and transfer it to the Jordanian government. It is also possible to allow the Jordanians to interrogate the man inside the embassy compound in the presence of Israeli representatives, thus solving the problem. There are creative ways to get out of this undesirable ladder. ”
“Jordan has no interest in raising the flames in a way that it can not control, so it must be given a chance to get off this tree in creative ways and with the intention of not harming the king’s status,” says Eran. “He should be given the opportunity to appear to be in control of his kingdom, while at the same time preserving the rights of that security guard and the political rights that Israel has.”
Ram Ben-Barak, former deputy head of the Mossad, also called for dialogue between the sides: “Relations with Jordan are strategic to Israel, and there is no need to escalate the situation, but there is an unstoppable deterioration that began with the abominable murder on the Temple Mount and the issue of magnetometers, I am hoping this is the end, but it is not certain that this is the end. ”
And what will Israel have to give in return for the end of the affair? “They may freeze the use of magnetometers to make it sound better, but Israel has additional pressure on Jordan,” Ben-Barak added.
Last night, an Israeli security guard shot dead two Jordanians after one of them stabbed him with a screwdriver. The Israeli security guard was lightly injured, shot a 17-year-old stab, while the owner of the security guard’s house was hit by a stray bullet and died of his wounds.
The Foreign Ministry said that the thief arrived at the home of one of the emissaries, who lives near the embassy in Amman, to replace furniture. The security guard and the owner of the Jordanian house were present. The worker crept behind the security guard and began to stab him, and the security guard shot him and the owner as self-defense. Israel made it clear tonight that according to the Vienna Convention, the security guard is immune from any criminal charges and civil suits in Jordan – and will not be arrested or interrogated. This is also the reason why Israel refuses to allow the Jordanian authorities to interrogate the security officer. State officials claimed that had it not been for the security guard’s swift and determined response, the incident could have ended differently.
The Vienna Convention is an international treaty that entered into force in 1964 and regulates diplomatic relations between states and the rights and immunities of the diplomatic mission. The convention stipulates that the seat of the diplomatic mission shall be immune and that the delegates of the receiving State may not enter the area of the delegation’s seat except with the permission of the head of the delegation.
The Convention further states that the receiving State must protect the diplomatic mission from any invasion or damage attempt and prevent any disturbance to the peace of the delegation or damage to its honor. The area of the diplomatic mission, its possessions, and property, and its means of transport shall be immune from search or execution.
In addition, diplomatic envoys are immune from any criminal charge in the receiving country and are immune from civil and administrative prosecution. A diplomatic agent can not be required to testify at trial or to give evidence.
Relatives of the terrorist: “murdered in cold blood”
Dozens of relatives of 17-year-old Muhammad Zakaria a-Jawawda demonstrated in Amman last night and demanded that the Israeli security guard be shot and killed. The local security men evacuated them with tear gas. The young man’s father told the Jordanian television station, “Roya,” that his son did not even know the nationality of the person who killed him and that he was an ordinary customer who bought them furniture. “I consider my son as a martyr in Allah,” his father said.
The father said that he tried to call him, and when he did not answer he called the security guard of the apartment who updated him about the shooting incident and told him that his son was taken to the hospital together with another local and the Israeli worker. He said that after passing through several hospitals, he was transferred to the Aman police, who informed him that his son had been killed.
“We stand on this night when one of the sons of Jordan was lost in cold blood by the cruel Zionist entity in its embassy in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,” said one member of the family. “We have absolute and pure faith in the Jordanian judicial system that this criminal and murderer will receive the most severe punishment and that this punishment will be punishable by death.” Another relative demanded that the Jordanian government “expel the ambassador of this false land, who does not spare anyone and does not fear Allah, we believe in our free judicial system, and now we will follow all the interrogation procedures together with senior officials until we obtain our rights – Executed. ”
The incident took place against the backdrop of widespread protests in Jordan against the placing of magnetometers at the entrance gates to the Temple Mount. In a demonstration in Amman on Friday, thousands of people shouted at Israel. Among other things, rocket-propelled grenade launchers with the inscription “Al-Aqsa – Red Line” were heard and shouted: “How beautiful it is to kill soldiers from Jerusalem.”
Jordanian MPs recently stood in memory of the three terrorists who murdered two policemen on the Temple Mount and praised the murder. “The mercy of Allah on our Shahids who sowed and watered the pure land,” said Parliament Speaker Atef a-Tarawneh, “We raise our heads through the sacrifice of the young Palestinians who are still fighting for the nation.” Other MPs adopted the chairman’s statement Pray for the souls of the three terrorists. “May Allah have mercy on our young people, the Jabarin family, whose family deserves to be honored and honored,” declared A-Tarawneh.
