Jerusalem Day Week Traffic Arrangements

 

On Sunday, May 21, 2017, celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Jerusalem will begin.

Below are traffic arrangements for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Jerusalem and the visit of President Trump. No parking will be permitted along the routes that will be closed as detailed below. The police advise the public to use the Waze App, which will be updated constantly, and to keep themselves informed about changes in traffic arrangements through the National Police Information Center, at 110.

Sunday, May 21, 2017, Opening Ceremony for the 50th Anniversary Reunification Celebrations:
Between 16:00 and 23:00 – vehicles will be blocked from the following streets:
Bar-Lev, Heil Hadassah, the IDF Tunnel in both directions, HaTzanchanim, Hebron Road, Hativat Jerusalem, Yitzhak Kariv, King Solomon, King David, Emil Botta, Shamai, Yanai, Ben Sira, Shlomzion HaMalcha, Agron, Ma’ale HaShalom, Jaffa Gate.

Guests to the event can park for free in the Teddy and HaLeom parking lots and can reach the event through shuttles and the light rail.

CityPass will also increase the frequency of light trains for the benefit of the public, between the hours of 20:00 and 00:00.

 

Monday, May 22, 2017:
From 12:00, the following routes will be alternately blocked: Derech Hebron, David Remez, King David, Jabotinsky, HaNasi, Ha’Ari, Azza, Palomar, Hativat Jerusalem, Jaffa Gate, Keren Hayesod, Batei Michseh, Ma’ale HaShalom, Agron, Balfour, Smolenskin.

For the benefit of the public, alternate routes are available: Begin, Herzl Boulevard, Kiryat Moshe Interchange to Begin South, Haim Bar-Lev in the direction of Agron, Ben Tzvi in the direction of Rabin.

The light rail will function as usual for most of the day. Between 11:00-14:00, changes will be made as follows: The light rail will operate between the Heil HaAvir stations (Pisgat Ze’ev) and the Kikar Denia station. Intermittently during these hours, according to police instructions, there will be no service at the Yefe Nof and Mount Herzl stations. With the conclusion of President Trump’s visit and the approval of the police, the light rail will resume full service along the line.

 

Tuesday, May 27, 2017:
Starting at 08:30, the following routes will be blocked intermittently: King David, David Remez, Hebron Road, Minhat, Ma’Avar Rachel, Gihon, Tzruya, Ein Rogel in the direction of Derech Hevron, Derech Beit Lechem north board, Azza, Herzog, the train northbound, Azza, Herzog, Beit, Bezek, Shneur, Burla, Nayot, Herzl and Yad Vashem.

The public can use alternate routes: Agron, Haim Barlev, Jaffa Gate, Hebron Road – HaHashmonait, Keren Hayesod, Emek Refaim, Begin, Herzl, Ramban.

Between 12:00-14:00, changes will be made to the operation of the light rail as follows: Between the air force stations (Pisgat Ze’ev) and the Kikar Denia station. Intermittently during these hours, according to police instructions, there will be no service at the Yefe Nof and Mount Herzl stations. With the end of President Trump’s visit to Yad Vashem, and after receiving police approval, the light rail will resume full service along the line.

 

Wednesday, May 24, 2017, Flag Parade:
Between the hours of 15:00 and 21:00 – traffic to the following streets will be blocked, as will the roads leading to them: Bezalel, King George, Keren Hayesod, Agron, Yitzhak Kariv, King Solomon, King David, Hativat Jerusalem, Sultan Suleiman, Jericho, Ma’aleh HaShalom, Highway 1 (from the Mateh Artzi Junction southward), Hebron Road from Miriam HaHashmonait.

Due to the parade, the light rail will operate between 17:30 and 20:15, with limited service between the Mount Herzl station and the Central Bus Station, and between the Pisgat Zeev Heil HaAvir station and the Ammunition Hill station. At this time, there will be no train service between Ammunition Hill Station and the Central Bus Station. With the end of the parade and the approval of the police, the light rail will return to full service throughout the line.

Wednesday, May 24, 2017, State Ceremony at Ammunition Hill:
Between 17:00-20: 00 – Shragai Street will be closed.

 

Wednesday, May 24, 2017, Jerusalem Day Assembly at Merkaz Harav Yeshiva:
Between the hours of 17:00-01:00 – Tzvi Yehuda Street between Herzl Boulevard and Ha-Illui street will be closed.

 

Tuesday, May 23 – Thursday, May 25, 2017, Grave of Samuel the Prophet:
It will not be possible to reach the gravesite or to the places adjacent to it in private vehicles. Arriving at the gravesite will be possible via regular service lines and public transport only, which will leave from three sites: the Ramot bus terminal (Mirsky Street), the Machaneh Ofer parking lot and the old Ramot checkpoint.

Shuttles will lead the worshipers up to the entrance to the compound and from there they will continue with special transportation to the gravesite area.

 

From Tuesday, May 23 at 14:00, until Thursday, May 25 at the end of the celebration, the following traffic arrangements will be implemented:
Route 436 from Ramot towards French Hill will remain open to vehicular traffic.

Route 436 from the direction of Givat Ze’ev towards Jerusalem will be accessible only for public transport and transportation vehicles.

Thursday, May 25, 2017: Maccabi Tel Aviv-Bnei Yehuda Cup Final at the Teddy Stadium on Thursday:

Fans are asked to arrive early in order to avoid queues and delays in the entrance to the stadium due to the shift in the ticketing system.

Due to the expectation of a large audience for the game – the police recommend that fans arrive through public transportation. Israel Railways will increase the number of trains operating between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

There will be no parking available for private vehicles along the Kiryat HaSport thoroughfares. Bnei Yehuda fans will be provided with shuttle services from the zoo parking lot near Malha and Ein Yael. For fans arriving at the parking lots, drive through the Ein Karem-Golomb route towards the zoo.

Maccabi Tel Aviv fans can park in the Bate parking lot, the technological park, the Mount Herzl parking lot and the national parking lot. For fans who arrive at the parking lots, drive through the entrance to the city – Herzl Blvd.

Fans will receive return transportation to the parking lots after the game ends. All parking lots will have ushers who will direct traffic and pedestrians to the shuttles.

 

Here are the traffic arrangements on the day of the game:

  • From 16:00 on, roads near Kiryat HaSport will be closed to traffic:

Benvenisti, David Ayalon, Agudat Sport Beitar, Moda’i.

  • It is recommended to use the Begin route (Route 50) in the direction of the Gilo neighborhood.
  • Vehicles will not be allowed into Malcha and Katamon (except for residents).

 

We urge fans and drivers to make use of the Waze App, which will be constantly updated.
