The new eight-episode will bring back most of its original cast: Roseanne Barr (Roseanne the matriarch), John Goodman (Dan her husband), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Michael Fishman (D.J.) and Lecy Goranson (Becky).
After winning Netflix to restart the show ABC’s green-lit for a revival the realistic portrayal of the Conners, an average American working-class family from Illinois. The couple has three children: Becky, Darlene, and DJ. Later on, Roseanne gave birth to a boy Jerry Garcia Conner.
It is not clear how Goodman’s rule will be explained. After all, Dan (his character) died at the end of the original series.
Roseanne won many awards. The sitcom was ranked #21 on TV Guide’s 100 Greatest Episodes of All-Time in 1993. In 2002, the show ranked #35, and in 2013, it was ranked #32 on TV Guide’s 60 Best Series of All Time.
ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey’s statement says “The Conners’ joys and struggles are as relevant and hilarious today as they were then, and there’s no one better to comment on our modern America than Roseanne.”
And what fans have to say on Twitter?
I enjoyed #Roseanne as a kid. Crazy nostalgia. But seeing her brand of vile “politics” has completely ruined a reboot for me.
