Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) and the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ) are two of Israel’s most well respected philanthropic organizations. Organizations who work in tandem throughout the year to further the well being of young men and women serving in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), with particular emphasis on those who come from family in difficult financial straits or “Lone Soldiers” who come from abroad to enlist.

The high holidays are always a time of the year when this sector of the population is especially in need of moral and financial assistance, and that’s the reason why for the last five years FIDF and IFCJ have pooled their resources as well as their efforts to be there for these young people, providing them (and their families) with millions of dollars in financial support and benefits to remind them how much the country cares in this time of celebration and reflection.

Well before Rosh Hashanah this year, at an IDF base in the center of Israel, founder and president of IFCJ and Col. (Res.) Atar Dagan, FIDF Executive Director in Israel were guests of honor at a special ceremony, to announce the organization’s plans to launch a “Fellowship Gift Cards” distribution program. The program will be in operation during the principal Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashanah, Chanukah, and Passover. Before these holidays, Fellowship Gift Card with a value of more than $2 million will be distributed to eligible soldiers, under the auspices of the IDF Personnel Directorate.

The Rosh Hashanah gift card, amounting to $70 per soldier, will allow every soldier eligible to receive it to celebrate the holiday with considerably less worries.
All that they need to do is present their Fellowship Gift Cards at any one of a number of Israel’s major retail chain stores which allow them to purchase food, clothing, as well as leisure products.

The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews was founded in 1983 by Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein to promote increased understanding between Jews and Christians as well as build broad support for Israel and other shared concerns. Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) was established in 1981 by a group of Holocaust survivors as a not-for-profit organization with the mission of providing and supporting educational, social, cultural, and recreational programs and facilities for the young men and women serving in the IDF. Today, FIDF boasts more than 120, 000 loyal supporters, operating from 15 regional offices throughout the U.S, providing support to the IDF soldiers and their families through a wide variety of unique and innovative programs anyone interested in learning more about FIDF should visit their website on: www.fidf.org.
