If even Jared Kushner were to come out and condemn President Donald Trump for how he has behaved in his fist ten days in office, there would be little that all the Trump minions on the cable news channels could say to mitigate that. And now it looks like the first son in law of the United States may very well be fed up with President Trump.
Much fanfare was made back when it was announced that Jared Kushner would be appointed to a senior advisory role in the White House. Jared Kushner is a Democratic so he will moderate President Trump’s policies, everyone pointed out. Jared Kushner is a smart level headed person who will temper Donald Trump’s self-control problems, the Trump people said. Ivanka Trump’s husband will be the voice of reason in the Trump Administration, a Clark Clifford to Lyndon Johnson or a Collin Powell to… well just about everyone in the George W. Bush White House.

This would have been ironic, had it actually happened, as Jared Kushner is only 36 years old and was expected to counter the more extreme people in the Trump White House like Steve Bannon who are much older than him. Ironic because, as it says in the Talmud, a leader should listen more to his elder advisors than the younger ones because of their greater wisdom and experience. This is learned from the example of the failure of King Solomon’s son King Rehoboam who listened to his friends, his contemporaries, and not his elders who tried to teach him from his father’s mistakes.
But less than two weeks in, it does not seem to be working out that way.

Vanity Fair has written that Jared Kushner may already have had enough of Donald Trump and his lack of self-control, lack of social filter, and insistence on doing everything that he wants to do while refusing to temper any of his positions.
Jared Kushner successfully arranged a meeting between Mexican President Peña Nieto and President Trump to discuss the proposed new wall to be built along America’s border with Mexico. But then when President Nieto said that his country would not pay for the wall, President Trump tweeted that if his counterpart was “unwilling to pay for the badly needed wall, then it would be better to cancel the upcoming meeting.” So the Mexican President did just that.
President Trump’s seeming genetic mutation which has left him without any social filter when it comes to speaking his mind apparently also applies to just letting other people handle his social media feeds for him. And now it has not only led to an international incident, it has also infuriated Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s daughter’s husband.
A source told Vanity Fair, “Kushner was fucking furious. I’d never once heard him say he was angry throughout the entire campaign. But he was furious.”
Jared Kushner also seems to have lost a lot of weight in just the past few weeks.
The interesting thing here is that Donald Trump’s tweet about Mexico came on a Wednesday night. It is between sundown Friday and sunset Saturday when Jared Kushner is unavailable to help his father in law. This is because Mr. Kushner is an orthodox Jew who observes the Jewish Sabbath.
Both Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner were taken by surprise, therefore, by Donald Trump’s executive order banning immigration from seven Muslim countries in the Middle East. This is because the order was given just before Sundown last Friday when the couple would have been at home making their last minute arrangements for Shabbat.

So what next?
It would be interesting to see what Donald Trump’s reaction will be should Jared Kushner resign from the White House staff. Would Trump insult his son in law and call him a loser on twitter like the President does to all of his critics? Would he mock Kushner to the press in the way in which Trump just did to Senator Chuck Schumer? Would he level false accusations against Kushner like he has done to Senators Lindsay Graham and John McCain?
Yes, yes and yes.
So Jared Kushner should be cautious about how he deals with President Trump. That is unless, of course, his wife Ivanka Trump can be depended on to take his side in any family feud.
