Stand up comic turned political guru Bill Maher is still licking his wounds and talking about how he will handle the Donald Trump Presidency. His HBO show “Real Time” returns for its 15th season on Friday night.

Bill Maher spoke about what comes next after Donald Trump’s inauguration in an interview with Variety. He said about upcoming changes, “Let’s not go too far with the changes, because what people are going to want right now is comfort food. We already had the big changes — the big change is how fascism has come into power. That’s enough for people to absorb for awhile.”

Ironically, Donald Trump’s inauguration as President coincides with Bill Maher’s 61st birthday. On that the comic said, “We come back right on Jan. 20, so it’s Inauguration Day, which also happens to be my birthday. It falls on that Friday, and I’m getting Donald Trump for my birthday…. We’re going to be living with Trump for a very long time. It sounds like a pharmaceutical commercial: ‘I’m living with Trump, but I don’t let Trump control my life.’ I think that’s going to be the attitude of most liberals.”

Bill Maher also spoke with The New York Times. In that interview he used one of his favorite expressions, referring to people who live in a bubble when it comes to politics. But Maher usually uses the expression to refer to Republicans. Now he is using it to refer to his fellow liberal celebrities like Meryl Streep.
“We’re the losers now, so it behooves us to break out of that bubble more,” said Maher.
Maybe that’s the point Bill. Maybe you are the one who has been living in a bubble all along. You have lived in the bubble of people who think that facts and the truth matter. You have failed to understand that people will vote at times against their own interests.
As Much as Bill Maher and the media in general went after Donald Trump for his treatment of women and his temperament, the voters didn’t care. They just did not like Hillary Clinton and Bill Maher and his friends never even understood that fact.
So is Maher afraid of retribution from Donald Trump after he takes office? This is, after all, a man who has promised to take revenge on his enemies.
“No one knows what this man is capable of,” Bill Maher told the Times. “I never, ever, ever felt worried — it never crossed my mind — that George Bush would do something crazy, even though I knew he hated me. He never sued me for a joke.”
