The Razzie Awards are given out to the worst movies and acting performances of the previous year. It is not considered an honor to win one. Ben Stiller was nominated together with BFF Owen Wilson for their performances in “Zoolander 2” Zac Efron was nominated together with Robert de Niro for their stinker “Dirty Grandpa.”
“Dirty Grandpa” was a movie where Robert de Niro went on a road trip with grandson Zac Efron. Funny things were supposed to happen. They didn’t. It was decidedly gross an unfunny.
“Zoolander 2” was one of a long list of terrible sequels which no one asked for that came out in 2016. The first Zoolander was just sort of cute, but not a laugh riot. The people who made the second one seemed to rely solely on Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson carrying the film by being funny all on their own. They weren’t and they did not.
This year will mark the 36th Razzie awards. The full list of nominees will be revealed on January 23, and the winners — or losers — will be revealed on Saturday February 25.
