Petra Kvitova injured in knife attack at home

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova,  known for her powerful left-handed groundstrokes, has been injured on Tuesday in a knife attack at her left hand.

The attack has happened at her home in the eastern Czech town of Prostejov.  She has been treated after the incident.

Her publicist Karel Tejkal claim it was a burglary. “It was a random crime, nobody was going to attack or rob her as Petra Kvitova, ” Tejkal said.

The 26-year-old is ranked 11 in the world. She and won Wimbledon in 2011 and 2014.

Kvitova won Wimbledon twice. In 2014 she beat Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard, and in 2011 the Russian Maria Sharapova, Grand Slams.

Kvitova withdrew on Tuesday from January’s Hopman Cup with a foot injury.
