Lewis Black has been tapped to host the Writers Guild of America’s Awards Ceremony next year. Black is best known for his appearances on “The Daily Show.”
The mercurial and outspoken comic has been a vocal critic of President Elect Trump, calling him a dictator. His selection could be construed as a statement by the Hollywood writers.

The ceremony will take place at New York’s Edison Ballroom on Feb. 19, 2017.

The comedian, who has 50 acting credits under his belt, has had nine different television comedy specials, in addition to his regular spot on “The Daily Show.” His fans are quite familiar with Lewis Black’s antics, which include wild gesticulations and shouting. And, as evidenced by the above Tweet, Black is no stranger to controversy.

The New York ceremony will be co-executive produced by Bonnie Datt and Shannon Walker. Ann Cohen will serve as the show’s head writer. This will be the first time the Guild’s producing and writing team will all be led by women.
“I am honored to be the host of the 2017 Writers Guild Awards, of which I am a proud member, ” said Lewis Black. “Though all honors should go to the reality we have lived through for the past two years and are still living through, as it’s the most profound fiction I’ve ever witnessed.”
This will be the Writers Guild East Awards. The West Coast Awards will be held in Los Angeles and be hosted by Patton Oswalt.

Louis Black’s current live comedy tour aptly titled “F.*.C.K.U” will be heading trough the Western U.S. in December. Fans will be able to see him in San Francisco on 12/2, in Reno, NV on 12/3, in Napa, CA on 12/8, in Monterey, CA on 12/9, and Los Angeles, CA on 12, 10. He will move on to Florida in January.
