The “Bookkeeper of Auschwitz” Oskar Groening is staying in jail. The German Federal Court of Justice upheld the 95 year old’s conviction for war crimes he committed during the Holocaust.
Oskar Groening was convicted last year and sentenced to all of four years in jail for having been an accomplice to at least 300, 000 different murders at Auschwitz Concentration Camp during World War Two. He had worked as a bookkeeper there.

The Nazi murderer had hoped that Germany’s highest court would uphold a controversial 1969 ruling which said that being a staff member at Auschwitz was not enough to convict someone for the crimes committed there.
The German Federal Court of Justice issued a statement saying that Groening’s, “conviction is therefore now legally binding.”
Nazi hunter Efraim Zuroff, head of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Israel, told the BBC, “This is a very dramatic and significant change in German prosecution policy.”
German Justice Minister Heiko Maas said in a statement, “It is never too late for justice. When it comes to the legal processing of Auschwitz there can also never be an end.”
